Disproportionate burden

User generated content: Some of the content on this website is generated and uploaded by individual users and as a result is not fully accessible. We believe that reviewing and making sure each item of content is fully accessible would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations but we do aim as mentioned above to make as much of this content compliant as possible.

Content that’s not within the scope of accessibility regulations

User generated content: Some of the content on this website is third-party content that is neither funded nor developed by us, nor under our control and is therefore exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Access-controlled parts: Parts of this website are not available to the general public and are exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations until such time it undergoes a substantial revision, which is planned to be complete by the end of 2021.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Material before 23 September 2018 is not covered by Accessibility guidelines. Users who need accessible versions of these materials should indicate their requirements to repository staff who will investigate accessibility adaptions on a case-by-case basis.

Third-party content

Our site uses, and / or links to third-party content which the University does not design or control and therefore accessibility standards may vary.

Our website contains links to third-party content and functionality which may direct you to a related service, a partner we work with, or supporting documentation. We cannot always guarantee its accessibility as we do not have direct control over these resources. Third-party content may therefore not comply with The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications)Accessibility Regulations 2018. However, we will use all reasonable endeavours to work with the third party to improve accessibility where this impacts on our users.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We have an ongoing programme of work to address any accessibility issues that are highlighted by our self-assessments in accordance with the guidelines set out by the WCAG. We are continually working on our content and site structure and are finding ways to make the site easier to navigate.

We have invested in a Student Experience and Accessibility Librarian, who’s main focus is to actively review and have introduce new working practices with a focus on user needs and accessibility.
